Pashley Cycles have been honoured by winning one of the bicycle industry’s most sought-after accolades at The Eurobike Show in Germany.
The winners of the 14th annual Eurobike Awards were announced at a special ceremony at the Friedrichshafen Messe on Sunday evening, where Pashley were declared as the winner in the “Special Purpose Bike Category”. The Pashley bike is currently proving itself to be very popular with riders in the London Santander Bike Scheme and will also be seen later this year in Edinburgh, when the recently awarded public bicycle hire scheme commences.
Pashley designed the new bike to meet the multiple challenges of ensuring that riders enjoy the riding experience whilst at the same time being durable, easy to maintain and fully protected from on-street vandalism, thereby reducing total lifetime operating costs to a minimum. The bike benefited from a close collaboration with another British cycling business, beryl, who provided next generation lighting capabilities with a future-proof smart data platform. The system includes Laserlight technology which projects a distinctive cycle icon into the blind spot of other vehicles. The bike also incorporates a number of other original Pashley patented features including its unique one handed seat clamp, and Duo-Safe headtube for safe and secure cable management.
The bike is on display with other winners from different categories for the duration of the Eurobike show. Pashley plan to further develop their Hire bike product offer to ensure they stay at the forefront of this rapidly developing market, with an e-assist version already scheduled for the Edinburgh scheme in 2019.
Adrian Williams – Managing Director said “I am very pleased that Pashley have won this this award. It is recognition from the industry that we have successfully developed a world class public hire bike system that any city around the world could be proud of.”
