L'Eroica Success!

Forza La Gamba - Italian
Power in the Legs - English
(the bikes helped too)

Congratulations to Bryce and David who return, conquering heroes from the Brooks L'Eroica (the Hero) ride in Italy.

On Sunday 5th October, the lads rode 127 miles (205km) under the Tuscan sun to complete the longest of the 4 available routes.

The steeds chosen were Pashley 3 speed GUV'NORs and the boys managed to finish the gruelling marathon in around 14 hours!

We've noticed them walking a little funnily since their return,

but seriously chaps... WELL DONE!

Check out their travel log from the event for the full story and pictures!

Pashley Guv'nor creates a buzz at Interbike
Las Vegas
September 2008

A very English bicycle against a very American backdrop.

You might think the above headline relates to Pashley's wonderful new Guv'nor bicycle, and it does, but Pashley's very own Guv'nor (or Managing Director if you prefer formality) Adrian Williams is at America's biggest bike show spreading the Pashley word.

See the below links for images, stories and video clips of a little company from over here that is doing rather well over there!

Delivery of Pashleys Converts Reluctant Recumbent Blogger
California
May 2008

Update 19/05/07
Alan's new Blog!

http://www.ecovelo.info/

Recumbent riders are a notoriously difficult crowd to please, classing comfort as one of the primary considerations in their pedal powered vehicles, but one amongst their number is now a confirmed Pashley Classic fan and will be developing his blog to include more conventional bike styles. The cycles were purchased from Gold County Cyclery, Shingle Springs, CA.

[p.s. We enjoyed making the PDQ and PDQ3 - 2 and 3 wheel recumbents - here at Pashley a few years back, but had to make way for some of the other products which were coming through. 150 models / variants in production keeps our small team reasonably occupied.]

A Fine Romance!
Stratford-upon-Avon
4th March 2008

No longer skulking! A spring in the step! What has happened to our Virginia?
Marc's response to her letter might provide some clues as to why our young bachelorette has a new lease of life!

Time to go out and buy a hat we think!

My Beloved Virginia,

Last night I had a dream. I was walking through town, thinking of you as always, when out of nowhere a little devil appeared. Horns, tail, the works. He even had one of those poles with the spikes. He snarled at me "Why Mr. Marc, I have been looking for you". I said "What do you want you weirdo?" So the Devil goes "What do I want? Marc, I have a wonderful offer for YOU". He looked a bit shifty to me so I started to walk away "Thanks, but I am not interested" I said. He was not having any of it and starts going "Why Marc, you have not even heard the offer yet. I could make you very wealthy. You will be rich beyond your dreams!" He sounded like most of the spam that clogs my inbox so continued my walk. That is when he started prodding me with his stick and shouting "Marc, I am offering you so much!! All you have to do is give up your Double Scoop Tube Rider and I will make you rich beyond your wildest dreams."

That is when I smiled. He clocked me grinning like a Cheshire cat. "I knew you would like my offer." I positively beamed. "You do not understand." I said "I am not interested in your offer Mr Beelzebub. With my beautiful Double Scoop Tube rider I am already rich beyond my wildest dreams". That is when he got all angry, spinning around and going a bit nuts. It was just like the end of Rumpelstiltskin.

I woke up smiling this morning and I can not wipe that smile from my face. Virginia my darling, I can not wait to see your pink body and your blue mud flaps. I can think of nothing else but getting my leg over you, gripping your handlebars, squeezing your leavers and oiling your chain.

Marc x

An Indecent Proposal?
Stratford-upon-Avon
29th February 2008

When we arrived at work today we found this little lady moping around at the back of the factory.
Unusual we thought....but then we found this note pinned to the poor girls handlebars....

Virginia it seems has an elegant yet delicate hand so below is a transcript;

29th February 2008

Dear Marc Wootton,

I am led to believe through the press that you have feelings for me.

http://www.independent.co.uk/extras/sunday-review/regulars/why-i-love-freebies-782230.html

Why you could not approach me directly I can not imagine. I was initially shocked that you think I could be a free young thing. I am not the town bike you know!
However, after my initial perturbation I found myself a little flattered not to say aroused by your indecent proposal, to the extent that I have a proposal of my own for you. If you would care to check the date at the top of my correspondence it would seem the timing is perfect!
If you are willing to practice what you preach and make an honest bicycle out of me I would happily let you place your bottom on my sweet little saddle, grasp my comfortable grips and ride me all over the place for the rest of our lives together.
I expect to be loved and cared for, and as is standard practice, I think the nuptials should take place in my parish (that being the delightful town of Stratford upon Avon). Then you can whisk me off my wheels to that fine upstanding Saxon church at your family seat (or did you say that to beguile me) of Wootton Wawen
I await your response with a tingling sensation in my bell and hope in my gears!

Yours faithfully
Virginia Double-Scoop

Well Mr Wootton!

Are you willing to take Virginia up on her offer? She is sitting here waiting and we have not quite got the heart to give her to any of the other courtiers who have been lusting after her curves and want to put a bit of air in her tyres!
